How is men’s skin different from women’s?
Men’s skin requires more advanced care than women’s. Men’s skin is thicker, more oily, and your skin texture is tougher. Men typically have larger oil glands and the cells in the sebaceous (oil) glands have more positive receptors for androgens. Men also usually produce more sebum than women and therefore have oilier skin. Sebum is basically a greasy oil that is meant to keep the skin and hair lubricated. Due to men having facial hair, more sebum is produced leading to the skin appearing oily.
Besides having facial hair, there are structural differences between men's skin and women's skin. Androgen (testosterone) stimulation causes an increase in skin thickness, which accounts for why a man's skin is about 25% thicker than a woman's. So yes, quite literally men have thicker skin! That means you need different products and ingredients to penetrate more effectively while addressing those differences.
